Sgro outraged at action at St. Jude School on April 28, 2006

Honourable Judy Sgro, Member of Parliament for York West, today expressed outrage that the Conservative government seized 2 children from St. Jude Catholic School on Friday.

Officials threatened to take away the two young sisters if their parents did not show up within 30 minutes.

“I am outraged that these children were removed from their classes and held as bait by this government”, Sgro said.

“These children have done nothing wrong, and they were suddenly seized from their classes – they must have been scared to death”, Sgro added.

“What took place was not only clearly contrary to CBSA protocols, but a truly unconscionable act”, stated Sgro.

“I am calling on the government to apologize to this family immediately and review their case without delay.”
